The Grizzly Bear

Probably the most feared and respected mammal in North America, top of the food chain after us, it's only predator. Some of these pictures show a sow with four cubs, a very rare site indeed. As an estimate, she is about eight feet long, measured from the tip of her nose to her tail which means when she stands up she would be about eleven feet tall.

With a top speed of 55 kph, she could have reached me within seconds but all she was worried about was that I kept my distance. As a perfect example of harmony in Nature, a young buck moved into my vision. He was more worried about me than of the Grizzly.
