Moose are huge animals, a full grown male bull moose can be seven foot at the shoulder with a rack six feet wide. Most people don't realize that the moose will loose his rack every Fall and grow it again in the Spring. My first photograph shows very clearly the white bone on his head where the rack has dropped off.

Moose like to spend the hot summer months up in the hills and mountains away from mosquitoes, in the Fall when the snow starts to get deep they move down into the valleys where the snow is not so deep.

The moose's main weapons are it's feet. One kick from a moose can smash a canoe in two. Up in the mountains when the snow is deep they are unable to kick their predators such as wolves and so are easy prey.
